Code Like a Girl is committed to respecting the privacy of our community. This policy tells you how we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information. Occasionally, we may change or update this privacy policy. You can always check back to this page to ensure you have the most up to date information.

WTF is ‘Personal Information?’ Personal Information’ means any information or an opinion from which your identity is apparent or reasonably ascertained. For example, the obvious ones are things like your name, date of birth, and contact details. But personal information can also include things like your post code and IP address.

When you interact with Code Like a Girl we will only ask you for personal information that we require to be able deliver our services and programs. The information we collect from you may vary depending on how you interact with us, so we have broken up this policy into key services to make it easier to understand.

When you visit our website

When you visit codelikeagirl.com* we collect some information from you in order to improve your experience of our website, and to understand how people interact with codelikeagirl.com. This information is used solely for internal purposes for understanding how people interact with our website, and personalising content to you while you are here.

Unfortunately, we can’t control what other websites are doing with your information, so this policy does not apply to any external websites that are linked on codelikeagirl.com. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.

When you visit our website, we may collect the following:

Code Like a Girl uses Google Fonts, as well as Google Analytics in order to understand how people interact with codelikeagirl.com. The CLG Website also uses cookies to improve your experience of our website.

Code Like a Girl also uses Hotjar on our website in order to better understand the needs of our users and to optimise both the website experience. Hotjar records data like how much time you spend on which pages, which links you choose to click. This enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behaviour and their devices. This includes a device's IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymiaed user profile.
Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf.

WTF are cookies and tracking pixels?! Cookies and tracking pixels are small files that websites send to your device that the sites then use to  remember certain information about you. For example, when an online shopping site remembers what’s in your cart! Traditionally, cookies/tracking pixels don’t contain personal information, but as they become increasingly complicated, it is possible that some may contain information that is able to identify you. Cookies and tracking pixels generally make your web browsing experience a bit nicer, but hey, if you’re not into it that’s cool too - you can disable them via your browser settings (but remember - some websites will break if you do this!)
