We want more women programmers to be included on your shortlist whenever a speaking opportunity, job opening, or cool project comes up!

Although we’ve met a lot of cool women programmers through groups like Systers, DevChix, and LinuxChix, we haven’t had the chance to program with many of them. Code Like A Girl aims to provide opportunities for women coders to not only meet each other, but to working on programming problems together. Actually, at least some of our events will be open to people of all genders, since we want women programmers to be included on everyone’s shortlists, not just other women’s.

Our events will be very programming centric. There might be a short announcement or two, but most of the time we expect participants to be programming in pairs or small teams in 2 to 4 hour blocks of time. The idea is to get to program with at least two teams/pairs in a day. We hope to hold our first event in early 2010 in the San Francisco Bay Area.
